Lost Yourself

This project highlights modern society's distorted beauty standards and the influence of popular trends. In the installation, mannequins, controlled by external forces, symbolize the societal pressure on women. The incomplete clock and surrounding mirrors, representing societal critique, encourage viewers to reflect on themselves and question these external pressures. The aim is to provoke thought about societal influences on beauty standards.

research.

Influenced by social media, there are more and more post-95s and post-00s who have appearance anxiety. They unconsciously compare their aesthetics with the public's likes and dislikes. The online media defines the aesthetics of the public.

"Judging by appearance" is a common human trait across business, social media, workplace, or love. Increasingly uniform beauty standards, emphasizing thinness, have trapped women in a cycle of altering their appearance for recognition.

overview.

This installation represents us, using a skeleton as the main character, dripping with the current society's perverse and convergent aesthetics. At the same time, objects such as clocks and mirrors are used to create a harsh yet one-sided environment around them, exacerbating the impact of society's cacophony of voices on women's aesthetic views. The interaction of a tiller will be added to the whole installation to pull the limbs of the skeleton, to highlight more the feeling that women are pulled by external forces in society and cannot lose their autonomy. I hope that the installation will cause people to think about the control of external sound on themselves.
